If there’s only one thing I would look at war, famine, poverty, issues of human suffering, but because I’m a professor of election law and voting rights, I would tie it back to democracy. And so the one thing that I think can tie it all together and help on some of those major issues of human suffering is a better commitment to democracy and stronger voter engagement and stronger education, civics education. And you know in the United States, you know, we have voter turnout in presidential elections of 60 or 65 percent. I think that’s pretty horrible and you know that needs to be a lot higher. It’s not clear whether that would actually change outcomes in a place like America, which is already somewhat of a democracy, at least seen around the world as one of the most important democracies. But I do think that this collective action towards self-governance with better informed electorate can help to realize greater good for everyone. #democracy #voting #learning
