According to INSEE statistics, the proportion of births outside of marriage has increased in France over the last twenty years.
The share of births outside of marriage was almost 40% in 1996, passed the 50% mark in 2006, and exceeded 57% in 2013.
It is interesting to note that in 20 years, the share of births outside of marriage has continued to increase, without ever decreasing.
Several hypotheses can explain such evolution: the questioning of the importance of marriage, the new practices in marriage, the liberalization of morals, the autonomy, the increase in the general trend of the number of births (in absolute value, not relative) over the same period …?
