How to remember dates

It is difficult to remember numbers. The brain is more used to remembering words.

That’s good, because there is a trick that will save you a lot of time and effort in learning dates.

It’s a simple code that you’ll have to remember, and thanks to it You will be able to remember a lot of dates without any effort.

The code is as follows:

What matters are the sounds. What you pronounce. So, beaver, quartet, koala, all start with the k sound, so it is a 7.

Now let us take an example.

You want to remember 1914 – the beginning of the First World War. Remember: Felltotheground.

Many soldiers fell to the ground during this first world war, that is easy to remember. And all you have to do is convert the words into numbers:

T = 1

B = 9

T = 1

R = 4

This gives 1914. You will have noticed that the “m” of the tomb is not underlined because it is not heard.

We can do the same thing in the other direction:

Small = 91

Kid = 73

Flower = 854

Elephant = 58

Crucify = 7,408

Singer = 614

Etc.

One more little trick. Let us take an example: the fall of the Berlin Wall. You know perfectly well that the fall of the Berlin Wall took place in the 20th century, i.e. 19XX. In this case, you do not need to find a word for 19, you can directly learn the last two numbers (XX).

Thus, you will remember: Fabien by telling you Fabienwas present when the Berlin Wall fell (F = 8, B = 9). You have retained 1989.
